A member asked:

The use of anesthesia during surgery can affect intraocular pressure. do you have any thoughtful guidance on how best to strike the optimal balance for a patient (male; 61 years old) who suffers from glaucoma and needs to undergo prostate surgery?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

anesthesia when given properly will not cause increased intraocular pressure rise. Even if transient increase in pressure occurs no harm will occur specially if medication for it are used. Also discuss this with the anesthesiologist before surgery who will then take appropriate measures. He should be alright.
