Laser, operation: If treatment by anti-glaucoma eyedrops fails or is ineffective, then laser can lower the pressure and for more severe cases there are surgical ways to reduce the pressure including the construction of bypass channels (trabeculectomy) and the implantation of drainage devices. Several: All eye treatment for glaucoma (eye drops, laser, surgery) reduce intraocular pressure in order to prevent glaucoma damage from worsening. Laser (slt and alt) increases outflow of aqueous humor from the eye into the trabecular meshwork. Trabeculectomy and tube shunts increase outflow of aqueous humor to the outside of the eye by a newly created channel.
