A member asked:

I took a pcr urine test, it was late in the day when it was ordered i got my results back and it was negative , but i've been reading that since it wasn't the first urine of the day it wouldn't be accurate is this true should i retest ? for mycoplasm?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No, no, no! “First urine of the day” pertains to a urine culture for bacteria. What you very likely got was a molecular assay (PCR) for mycoplasma. Same rules don’t apply. PCR assay is VERY accurate and if negative, you don’t have mycoplasma infection - regardless of when the urine was collected
