I'm 46 y/o, obese, trying to lose weight, in the last visit with my dr my bp was a little high 130/85 , i'm not hypertensive, dr said for now it's ok, but told to control salt. how much salt can i take? i'm doing no more than 1500mg daily, is it ok?

You need not only 1,500 mg Na but to increase your K to 3,800 mg. In other words do the DASH. My record patient wt loss is 140 lbs.

The lowfat, low sodium DASH diet, often used to help reduce high BP, recommends no more than 2300 mg sodium per day or, for even stricter control, no more than 1500 mg per day.
