Aspirin outdated: There are much more effective treatments for stroke now. Aggrenox for example. Sometimes stroke can be caused by abnormal heart rythem resulting in clots to the brain. This requires blood thinners like Coumadin (warfarin) . Sometimes there is blockage to an artery to the brain, which require surgery.

Aspirin failure: Aspirin resistance develops in a high number of people and a simple blood test can determine if this is the case. Clopidigrel is not very effective in stroke prevention, and Aggrenox is far better in spite of the "common belief" that the drugs are equivalent, but Aspirin is within Aggrenox and this needs assessment. Good luck.
