Hb is in normal range for female and Hct is on the low side of normal range (some laboratories put 35 at the lowest limit) As a rule of thumb, Hct = Hb x 3 so in this case Hct should be 38.4 but lab results are usually varied. Female with Hb of 12.8 is not anemic. For a better assessment we need to know total red blood cell count, the values of MCV, MCH and RDW.

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, many women have low iron stores due to blood loss through menstruation. If would be safe to take oral iron and multivitamins to replenish iron stores and prevent anemia.
