Can a umbilical hernia disappear? i had a small one in the past and spoke to a surgeon who said we can wait out a surgery. i recently had an ultra sound for pain in my side and my pcp insisted i did not have one and treated me like a liar?

Umbilical hernias can get smaller and disappear in younger patients. I will still be monitoring you. There is no information as to when the hernia was first diagnosed. Good luck

Umbilical hernias emerge between the long up/down abdominal muscles at the front of the abdomen in a natural space at the middle. If the tone/strength in those abdominal muscles increase and or the abdomen contents pushing it out from behind decreases the hernia may disappear.
