Any cough lasting longer than 2 weeks warrants an evaluation by a doctor, preferably a pulmonologist - lung doctor. While the risk is low, lung TB needs to be excluded, Wish you good health!

You don't describe the color or amount of sputum you produce. Mucus in throat may be post nasal drip. Did your cough follow a head cold? If so you may have bronchitis which is resolving. If you have copious, discolored sputum, wheezing, fever, sweats, chills, chest pain or shortness of breath, see your MD for evaluation and treatment.
