You have 2 different problems of both eyes: bilateral cataracts and you are at risk for acute narrow-angle glaucoma. The latter problem can cause blindness acutely so ophthalmologist offers Laser Iridotomy ASAP. No improvement in vision after IL but it needs to be done to prevent serious complication, mild eye discomfort post op. Cataracts & implants can be done later to improve your vision.

Narrow angles can cause serious increase in eye pressure which may lead to loss of vision. So laser iridotomy is recommended to prevent this chance of increase in pressure. The cataract are early in your eye and you may not need cataract surgery right away.
