How bad would your eyes have to be to have to have cataracts removed by laser. dr. said, i need the procedure done in both eyes. need medical advice?

Please listen to: your opthamalogist. If he/she thinks its time than it probably is. You can get a second opinion if you like. Lots of progress has been made in this area and people are generally very happy with the outcome of cataract surgery. Peace and good health.

Laser not necessary: Cataract surgery is usually performed when vision is about 20/40 or worse, however it depends on many factors. One thing I tell my patients, is that if the cataract is causing vision loss great enough to prevent them from doing the things they need or want to do, then it is time (this varies from person to person). Use of a laser is not necessary for good quality cataract surgery.
