Several reasons for awakening early, and this includes sleep apnea, clinical depression, pain of any origin especially arthritis, etc. A couple approaches may help, such as overnight sleep study with pulse oximetry, designing a sleep hygiene program, and consulting a sleep specialist. It is claimed that 8 hrs is important but sleep needs vary with individual variations, so you may be fine.

Waking up earlier than you desired is called late insomnia. If you are rested and feel good upon arising just get up and start the day with a meaningful activity; you could also go to bed later.
