They like to see if you are making urine during surgery. So that may be needed.

It depends on the nature and duration of surgery. Catheter is used mostly for procedures taking a long time or complicated surgery. Should you need one ask them place one after you are anesthetized. This way you won't feel embarrassed.. Anesthesia does not cause bladder problems. You are 16- you will be fine. Good luck with your surgery
