I would follow your dentist advice. It may be irritating to you, but I doubt you will become infected. Tomorrow I would suggest to irrigate thoroughly. You should begin to feel better.

the risk for infection in the first 24 hours is low. Follow up with the dentist is yo are not able to clear the socket in a day or two. Dont mess with it for the first 24-48 hours
