Dental pain: The amount of pain following an extraction is variable (in fact, I just had one removed and had no pain!). If you feel this is excessive and you are not getting relief from pain meds, you must get in touch with your dentist.

Extraction: You had a tooth extracted that was located in an infected field. Each extraction is different and this one appears to be no different than any other tooth in a similar situation. Follow your dentist's instructions re: post op directions. As the infection resolves you will feel much better.
