Acid reflux can cause irritation at the point where the Bronchi (tube leading to lungs) is in close proximity to the esophagus (tube leading to the stomach). This can cause the bronchi to narrow with inflammation and cause you to be short of breath/wheezing. You need to address the acid reflux in order to stop the irritation/inflammation. Take an antiacid, drink lots of water, and eat small meals

The wheezing sound and cough is associated possibly with bronchospasm. The reflux may lead to aspiration and a proton pump inhibitor may be discussed with your PCP. Avoid eating more than two hours prior to bedtime, avoid caffeine and spicy foods. Prop up the pillows and please follow up.
