A member asked:

Reoccurring pleural effusion. 800 mlfluid drained left lung twice in 5 weeks. white count up. wheezing, short breath. no cancer. liver good. heart good. lung part collapsed. no fever no cough. ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Effusion: I believe the next step should be a pleural biopsy which can be diagnostic of entities such as tb,asbestosis or mesothelioma, lymphoma for example. Knowing whether the effusion is an exudate or transudate is helpful. In my opinion A pulmonologist or thoracic surgeon should be consulted in such cases.
