Sometimes, when i take a deep breath, i hear a gurgling sound/feeling in my chest (this started happening recently). no pain or other symptoms. i used to have asthma as a child. what could be causing this? likelihood of cancer?

Please see a physician soon, and have an evaluation. Watch for shortness of breath, cough and wheezing. An imaging study may be helpful, please discuss with your PCP.
