I have appointment in 12 days with my dentist i have a toothache, i've been taking 2 advil 200 mg every day, is it safe to keep taking it for 12 more days? he prescribed amoxicillin, i'm almost done taking it (just 2 pills left) but still hurting?

Advil (ibuprofen) is an NSAID, it works to reduce inflammation and fever. Typical dosing is 400mg (two pills) every 6-8 hours. You can take two pills 3-4 times per day. It should reduce the pain and the inflammation as well.

Pain probably due to infected plural tissues. Antibiotic will control spread of infections to other tissues, but not cure the infection within the tooth. Additional antibiotics may be necessary until you can see your Dentist. Root canal treatment may be required. Call your Dentist and report your symptoms.
