Gum health-pain : Any change in the health of the gums or gingiva may result in discomfort, sensitivity, or pain in teeth. An infection of the gums can result in bone loss surrounding the tooth ( periodontal disease) than can often effect a pain response in the nerve of the tooth. Another instance would be if there is recession of the gum where the root of the tooth is exposed and tooth sensitive to cold or hot.

Tooth/gum pain: May be from infected teeth (abscesses), infected gums (gingivitis/periodontitis), fractured teeth, bacterial/viral/fungal infection, grinding and/or clenching. To provide proper treatment first the cause must be diagnosed. Taking an analgesic will block the pain sensation as the underlying problem worsens. You need a Dentist, now.
