A member asked:

I take famotidine to reduce acid as i have barretts. i also get utis. i believe that hiprex makes the urine more acidic. can hiprex make barretts worse by introducing more acid into my system as they are both pills which go via the oesophegus?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Barrett's: No, Hipprex should not affect the barrett's. As long as you do not feel any worsening of reflux or acid coming up after taking it, it should be fine. Continue with famotidine and follow the precautions for reflux and gastritis with a healthy diet and regular exercise. Also stay well hydrated with water.
