A general dentist does work of most specialists in florida. but, for the most part, who is the most likely specialist for deep root planning and scaling? i think periodontist and not his/her hygienist for procedure?

Dental Specialties: General dentists provide many specialty services in most of the country. A deep root planing and scaling is a time consuming procedure but does not require advanced skills. A general dentist, a periodontist, or a hygienist could be used.

PERIODONTIST: A general dentist like myself and hygienist perform deep cleanings but if you have deep pockets ,bone loss and the need for flap surgery than a periodontist is your choice of dentist.
