Depends: Some dentists perform excellent cleaning procedures (periodontal maintenance procedure) go to this new periodontist and try it, if your mouth feels clean and you are satisfied with the treatment, that is what is important.

Not important factor: For most routine periodontal cleanings\maintenance visits, a dental hygienist and dentist can both serve you equally well. Some periodontal offices have no dental hygienists, some have one, and some many. It's the quality of care and how you are treated that is important, not the size of the office or the length of time in practice.
