Experiencing soreness between adams apple and sternocleido muscle of my neck. also experiencing discomfort when i swallow food down in the same area. have experienced this for two days now. is this a typical muscle strain or other concern?

Needs assessment: If experiencing discomfort swallowing, it becomes less likely to be a simple muscle strain, but rather an extrinsically compressing process on the hypopharynx or esophagus, commonly the parapharyngeal space being involved or a thyroid inflammatory process. Seeing your doc in this context will make most sense, if not available, an urgent care facility as a focused exam will be needed.
