I have food anxieties. when eating i tense my throat muscles tightly when swallowing. my throat feels sore after. can this be the cause?

Sounds possible: Try to find a psychotherapist experienced with anxieties - perhaps eating disorders. This may, indeed be the cause of your throat pain, but it is always possible to also have a sore throat for other reasons. See your doctor and if it looks infected they'll prescribe antibiotics or the appropriate treatment. I think you'll feel better after doing these things.
