More info needed...: You need to determine the cause of the toothache. If the tooth is decayed then it needs to be treated by a dentist. Sensitive teeth due to gingival recession can often be treated with OTC toothpaste for sensitive teeth.

Tooth nerves?: OTC t'pastes are formulated to reduce sensitivity, Sensitivity may be due to gum recession and tooth-root exposure, which indicates gum disease, a bacterial infection. Better to treat the case than mask the symptoms. Get professional help. there are also other causes of dental pain, most commonly infection. please don't self-diagnose and self medicate. Please see a Dentist for proper treatment.
