A member asked:

I have a gilbert syndrome. and i received cholecystectomy due to gb polyp. (no stone) does cholecystectomy or gilbert syndrome (indirect hyperbilirubinemia) increase the chance of intrahepatic stone? worried

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Gilbert syndrome: In Gilbert syndrome unconjugated bilirubin does build up in the liver and I believe that this could lead to formation of bilirubin stones in the liver, bile ducts as well as the gall bladder. A gastroenterologist could verify this.
