A member asked:

I had a total hysterectomy on 7/13, there was a "surprise" mass on one ovary. it was sent out for biopsy, and after 7 days, i was told that it may be another 2-3 weeks for results as additional tests are needed. i am concerned, could it be nothing?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

"Total hysterectomy": An ovarian mass needs a pathologist to review the tissue microscopically, but this should be accomplished in less than "2-3 weeks". The ovarian mass could be entirely benign, but a thorough exam is necessary in case it is malignant.
