Can be: A hysterectomy is removal of the uterus but sometimes can be performed at the time of an oophorectomy (removal of ovaries). You dont need to have both done all ways and if you had a hysterectomy, i would clarify with the surgeon if the ovaries were left behind or taken out at the time of surgery. There are times when a small remnant of the ovary can be left behind but it is infrequent & uncommon
