I am taking macrodantin 100 a day to prevent a uti for 3 months due to persistent infections. if i feel an infection coming on, can i take it 3 times a day for a few days?

Careful with drugs: Your doses are already in treatment range, not prophylaxis at 100 mg bid. All antibiotics have an intrinsic anti inflammatory effect and may help with non specific inflammation and associated symptoms. Mean time microorganisms acquire resistance and become multi drug resistant. Do not increase your macrodantin dose until confirmed by your prescriber.
