Numb toes: Please see a foot doctor. If no circulatory or other conditions are found you may be advised to use insoles or change the footwear you use. Good luck w/the new job. Peace and good health.

Nerve compression?: The cause could be nerve compression and could occur due to tight shoes or clothing and due to be standing for an extended period of time. I would suggest to pay attention to tight clothing and shoes, look to avoid compression to your feet but if the symptoms continue after a few weeks or there are other areas affected, I would suggest to check with your primary care and or with a neurologist.

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It would be prudent to see your doctor. If you are overweight, it is imperative that you reduce your weight through exercise and diet. Wish you good health!
