Done for now: You may have received a high end repair by the provider who did the stitches. Depending on the type of stitches. you can reduce scarring by having any permanent stitches removed on day 5 if possible. After surface healing applying vitamin E cream or a good sunscreen to the area improves appearance. Revision of any scar would be addressed a year or more after the initial repair.

A bit late: Once you get your stitches, the healing process and scarring will depend on how the first person to intervene did without disturbing the underlying tissue layers, and how well the cut skin edges are approximated together in the repair -sub-cuticular closures are the best cosmetically. If it was not a good 1st attempt, you can only wait to see what happens, and yy a plastic surgeon in recovery
