Pulse pressure: A normal pulse pressure is considered to be between 40-60 and gets wider with age due to less elastic arterioles. In your situation you should strive for a bp of 120/80. To lower bp reduce weight don't add salt to meals, avoid nicotine, avoid excess alcohol, caffeine and other stimulants. Lower your stress and exercise regularly. Antihypertensive medications may be needed for a bp over 140/90
