A member asked:

I am a 22 year old male with a bmi of 20.1 yet i have a blood pressure reading of 141/82. is this safe? can i improve it or will it get worse with age

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not quite normal: Diet, exercise and salt restriction will help drop your systolic BP ( top number) ideally less than 130-139...; however, the diastolic BP of 82 is fine. I suggest keeping a BP journal. Buy a reliable digitial BP machine and check your pressure 3 times/day: A.M., noon and PM. Average out your daily #s and bring to your PCP. BMI is perfect.
