A member asked:

What does external root resorption mean in a cbct scan? this was seen on a recent tooth that i had root canaled?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Root resorption: Means root is dissolving away from the outside-in. A sometimes untoward reaction to infection, or it may be idiopathic. See a root canal specialist, an Endodontist, to see if progression can be halted. Depending on location of resorption, services of a Periodontist may also be required.
