Root canal therapy tooth #31 in 2015. periapical bone normal. periodontal pocket of 8 mm was noted on the lingual. cbct scan shows lingual bone has deteriorated into the furcation. suspect the root is fractured. can root amputation save? options?

At this time with your present diagnosis, the best long term procedure would be to have the tooth removed and an implant done. The prognosis for root removal and periodontal surgery is not favorable.

Does the tooth already have a crown? If so, root resection may work. If it doesn't have a crown, then it's not worth investing money on the one remaining root. Extraction, bone graft, implant, then post and crown.
