Could still be a UTI: The urine test strips are not very sensitive in picking up nitrites in urine, but a positive nitrite test is very specific for a bacterial infection so if it’s positive, then it is very likely a UTI. Because it is not very sensitive, you could have a mild UTI even if the nitrite tests negative. If you have increased frequency, urgency, and pain, then the likelihood of a UTi increases.
