It's a maybe: White blood cells (leukocytes) can be present without nitrites with an infection, or maybe there are white blood cells present for another reason. This is a time when you should see a doctor so they can look at the urine in a microscope and possibly culture the urine to see if there really is an infection. Good luck.

See below: The positive for leukocytes means there are some white blood cells in your urine. Some bacterial produce nitrite so a negative nitrite means you doen't have these bacteria in your urine, but you could have bacteria in your urine that do not produce nitrite. If you have urinary symptoms of burning on urination, frequency or urgency or fever. Get a urinalysis with microscopic exam and a culture.
