No taper: When used as a rinse or nasal spray, the amount of steroid that is absorbed systemically is significantly less than if taken orally, so taper is not necessary. Often with hayfever or other allergic rhinitis, nasal steroid sprays are used continuously for weeks to months or longer. Sometimes with long term use, the membranes become thinned, and there appears to be an increase risk of nosebleed.
