A member asked:

This is my 2nd iron transfusion however my white blood count is still low and always been. it is 2.7 and should be 3.4. what can i do to improve?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe normal: Iron transfusions will not have as much effect on white blood cells as red blood cells-hemaglobin.If the white blood cells have always been low then that is normal for you. Some races such as africian americans tend to run a lower WBC count. So discuss with your doctor this but sounds at least for the WBC not too much to worry about since always been low.
