Anemia: Fibroids are benign growths but they cause problems. A common problem is heavy bleeding. Heavy bleeding may lead to anemia where one needs either iron or blood transfusion. Not all cases of anemia are treated with blood transfusions. Typically people who need blood transfusions are "critical". HB 8.2 is not low enough for transfusion unless there are other major med problems. Always d/w your MD

Transfusion is not needed. Take oral iron and multivitamins. If you are not able to tolerate oral iron, your doctor can give you an infusion of iron. Your doctor can also prescribe pills that can limit your period to once a year and that would limit excessive bleeding. Wish you good health!
