A member asked:

Does a child with chronic ear infection need grommets ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe: My mantra has been "5 in a year or 1 that won't clear" (in 90 days) which is most common in the kids under 2. Older kids have had enough head growth that the poor Eustachian tube function has ended. There are other factors like how sick the kid gets & any allergies to common antibiotics. Grommets can drop infection rate to infrequent & improve hearing immediately.
