My son has been having this recurring ear infection where pus keeps coming out, the one ent said he doesn't need grommets when the pus comes out itself, but it keeps on coming out after a while.

Follow-up: My basic qualification for grommets is 5 infections in a year or 1 that doesn't clear after 90 days. There is a problem with an active puss producing infection with drainage. The ear drum is usually too inflamed or weak to hold a grommet, so it must heal well enough for them to be used.
