Yes/ not necessarily: Yes, Zantac and Pepcid have been used in treatment of ulcer. If this in indeed an endoscopy proven ulcer would still recommend starting with a PPI that are more potent in suppressing gastric acid then eventually convert to Pepcid or Zantac if possible. There are late studies showing different long term side effects related to use of PPI’s mostly related to impaired absorption.
