I've been having severe heartburn for the past couple of days. i want to take medication but terrified of side effects. is zantac (ranitidine) or pepcid better?

Heartburn: For classic heartburn, zantac or pepcid gives quicker relief than ppi's such as prilosec or nexium (esomeprazole). It's also helpful to follow a bland,low fat diet and avoid alcohol,caffeine,chocolate and tobacco. I wouldn't expect any significant side effects from zantac or pepcid.
