For that reason visit a restorative dentist who can visualize what your issues are and recommend the appropriate specialist.

2nd opinion: Having no idea as to the nature of your malocclusion, I think it best if you get a second opinion. Make sure you are seeing a fully qualified Orthodontic Specialist. You may be asking for limited treatment when comprehensive treatment is advisable.
