My 12 year old daughter and i climbed a 4000 ft mountain. now her throat and chest are very sore. what could it be? it started during the hike.

Altitude sickness: My guess would be a combination of exertion and so-called altitude sickness, that is breathing air with a lowered oxygen tension. With rest this should resolve on its own. If the chest discomfort is not resolving in a few days, it might be advisable to have your daughter evaluated by her physician.
