Many possibilities: Sometimes a kid will develop a transient tic, like throat clearing after an otherwise simple URI.The non-purposeful behavior can last up to 6 mo but usually fades. Kids can suppress it some but usually have little true control over it. It could also represent post nasal drainage (allergies) or mild reflux. If it bothers the kid have it checked out.
