Laryngitis: The scratchy/hoarse voice is from swelling and irritation near the vocal cords from the previous sore throat. Resting her voice (limit talking), will allow for faster healing. Good luck!

Sore throat: Most sore throats are cause by a virus or bacteria that are self limited and resolve on their own. About a third are caused by strep which can be harmful. If your daughter's sore throat persist more than 3 days, see your doc and make sure she is tested for strep.
