A member asked:

If i took 750 mg of zithromax in a single dose, how effective would it be against syphilis?

Not effective: The only treatment for syphilis is Penicillin. There is literally no other treatment for syphilis. Even people who are allergic to penicillin have to be hospitalized for desensitization to penicillin and then given penicillin if they have syphilis. Azithromycin will not treat it at all.

Not effective: The dose you took isn’t sufficient to treat the whole infection - and the infection that remains has a higher chance of resistance to future Zithromax treatment. If you’re writing from the U.S. (& possibly other countries), syphilis is already highly resistant to the appropriate dose of the drug - 2 grams. If you do think you have syphilis, you need treatment under supervision of a professional.
