A member asked:

Lump in l breast 12:00, mammogram and ultrasound done. radiologist palpitated the area and examined on ultrasound and said she felt sure it was a fat lobule and saw nothing suspicious on either scan. still anxious though - how can she be sure?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Biopsy: The only way to be 100% sure would be to do a biopsy. However, imaging tests are very accurate, and if you had both a mammogram and an ultrasound that showed nothing suspicious and it appeared to be fat, a biopsy is usually deemed to be unnecessary, as the likelihood that it is something concerning is extremely low.
